Contestants don't know unless they notice what the Bored has noticed since the beginning of this season and pay attention to the unrandomized topic tree.

Another WWTBAM/J! coincidence. J! was more difficult, as contestants had to come up with it cold, instead of being fed the answer with three lousy distractors. (Two wrong responses were the Rolling Stones and Jackson Five)
Final J! 4/1/11
BILLBOARD'S HOT 100
In 2010 they broke the Beatles' record for having had the most songs on the Hot 100 chart by a non-solo act

That may be true, but it does seem that contestants grab lifelines early - I haven't done an analysis but it seems that the vast majority of contestants are using at least one lifeilne on the very first question. Of course they don't have the benefit of our transcripts, and knowledge that the difficulty of the question doesn't change from the unrandomized list.

This was a FJ! question last week - the phraseology was different:

"In 2010 they broke the Beatles' record for having had the most songs on the Hot 100 chart by a non-solo act."

Given the reference to "TV series", the question is much easier.

It's a shame that she went for it - it seemed as if she was going to walk away, but then she blurted out an answer.
"Elen sila lumenn omentielvo...A star shines on the hour of our meeting."
