Prayer Request

#1 Post by hermillion » Thu Oct 18, 2007 1:09 am

We had all been hoping that the report was mistaken, but it has now been confirmed.

A small plane crash this afternoon took the life of my friend Rhonda Badeen-Lunn, along with the lives of her three teen-aged children, Kathryn (16) and 14-year old twins Michael and Adrienne. The four were flying to Houston to spend Fall Break with Rhonda's parents, and their pilot was a family friend and much-loved local Episcopal priest, Dr. Bill Wiseman, who also died in the crash.

In addition to being a good friend, Rhonda was my ob-gyn for 23 years -- ever since we moved to Tulsa when my daughter was 8 weeks old. She was also the first person to see the face of my son. Rhonda always had a smile on her face, and a kind and caring nature. Her children were smart, active, and full of promise. I remember how excited Rhonda was when she found out she and her husband were pregnant for the first time. She was thrilled to finally "put all that theory into practice".

Please send prayers for Bill Lunn. How does a man handle losing all that's dear to him?

Nancy, I'm very sorry to hear about this tragic loss. I'll be thinking of you and the others who touched by this awful event.

It's tempting with stories like this to try to reach for eloquence. I can't even try -- words can't express it. I'm sorry.

Words fail me too. I will add him to my prayers.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I saw this reported on the news as "storm-related," without knowing the tragedy also would touch anyone here. My condolences go to your doctor's husband, the extended families of your friend and the pilot, you, and the students at Cascia Hall, who lost their friends, too.

How terrible. My condolences to you and to the surviving husband and father.

This is one of those times where I wish we could change or delete avatars for individual posts. Doesn't seem appropriate for threads like these.
