Often this week, the clip they showed didn't provide any help in answering the question, so why show it? In this case, one could have recognized Custer from the clip without having to have seen the movie.

To summarize:

1) Clip doesn't help, why show it?
2) Custer recognizable from clip without seeing the movie.

Since Custer would not be recognizable from the clip without seeing the clip, perhaps they showed the clip so someone who didn't see the movie has a chance at answering the question?

I didn't see any of this week's episodes, but I think I understood Marley's point. If so, he was merely observing that earlier in the week, the clip generally did not help contestants answer the question, but this case was an exception to the rule, because watching this clip actually did help answer the question.

Yes, Confessor, when you read my posts without a pointy stick in your hand (as Esto does) you get my point. My observation was that this was a sensible video clip question, but most of the others weren't.

I DO NOT read your posts with a pointy stick in hand. I read this post 4 times and didn't get your point, so I responded. If your second sentence was intended as a counterpoint to your first, adding a simple "however, " would have made that clear. As written, it was not (to me).
