Courtney Foley
North Hollywood, CA
College student
Can do an impression of Chewbacca, Mere wasn't impressed by her first attempt and said it sounded like she was gargling.

Brought her boyfriend Danny to the show. He learned Chewbacca from her and did a demonstration. They met at a romantic movie. He asked her to bring an extra large purse and she agreed. She found out it was because he brought a lot of goodies to smuggle into the theater. During the show she would go back often to hug him.

Mere would announce later in the show that in addition to her winnings, Courtney will get a (Edit: length not specified) Netflix subscription.
Also all audience members will get the same.

Considering the number of times Meredith had Courtney repeat the exact same "arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" impression (not to mention trying it, herself), Meredith must have been very impressed, indeed.

To be precise, Meredith said every in the audience would get a subscription. She didn't say they would all get a one-year subscription. When I went to one of the NYC auditions that included the movie week test, all the auditioners were given that promise, too. The certificate we were given was for a one-month trial membership. That happened to be the same offer Netflix extends to all new subscribers. :|

Thanks for the info; I did some "speed-listening" and assumed it would be the same as in the past. Maybe costs went up or something. I'll edit in a clarification.

WTG... It sounds like you were in the pool for this week from your audition last year?

The $250K was a film I saw in the theaters and was aware of its slow rise and long run at the box office. Thinking it was not likely to have topped any week so it would have been a correct WAG. However, I'm terrible at movies and did not know most of the answers before then. When this week comes around I check here for movie fan input as to the difficulty range of the questions.

Yes.. and it's an unusual/totally nerve-wracking perspective watching it this week... hopefully i'll get it next year.. who knows.. .. hope so!..(or we could all maybe petition for "movie month" lol..) in any case i would have totally killed this stack.. and i actualy can do a pretty good chewbacca .. lol.. maybe she can too but she was just nervous!

but yeah i remember going to see MBFGW with my parents after it had been playing like an obscenely long time... like 6 months in .. and the theater was still just packed.. i would have gone with that for sure.. but i would have thought about it then taken the chance.. anyway i'm pretty sure MBFGW surprassed blair witch as the highest grossing indie at the time so it would have made the most sense to me..

Usually during Movie Week there's one or two questions about some minor details of movies that I can't place (I see a lot of movies each year, but most of them only once so after a while some of the details fade). This stack was a very easy one however, so I'd have gone all the way to that last question without burning a lifeline. At that level, I'd jump one or possibly two questions and hope for the best.

No, "10 Things" was based on "The Taming of the Shrew". "Sense and Sensibility" was based on "Sense and Sensibility" :-).

Like Dan and SSS, this was a dream stack for me, even the Flashback :-). The last question was the only one I wasn't absolutely certain on, but MBFGW was my guess on it.

I'd LOVE it if they would at least expand Movie Week to 2 weeks....

I'd also like to say how impressed I was with Courtney's knowledge, given (forgive me for being an ageist) how young she is.

And Gregory, on Tuesday's show, has been trying for 10 years (almost as long as me!) to get on, so I was definitely rooting for him for that (although the flirting thing got old fast....).

So, maybe a short, fat, balding fan has a shot for next year's version....
