"I've Been Everywhere" Game Beta Test 2/10/11

#1 Post by Snaxx » Thu Feb 10, 2011 8:18 am

(A little late since I narrowly failed to get in before the morning 500 Error, I got the avatar in, previewed my post, corrected formatting errors, then hit post...)

This week I am testing a new game and it is very simple. I've been (well almost) everywhere in the US and Canada, and let's see who else has been around North America too. Each day I will display a photo and ask where (location and state/province) it is. Each is my own photo, not something stolen from the Internet.

Today's photo is displayed in my avatar and will be open until tomorrow morning. It is from 2008.

To play, simply post where you think it is. (City and State/Province)

Remember to spoilerize!

For now, do not Google or Uniplatinum (looking at other answers) and I'll score the test week as follows:
5 points if only one gets it
3 points if some right and some wrong
2 points if everyone gets it right
1 point if I ask for a city but only the state or province is correct
(note that a city-only must be clear, e.g. just "Springfield" would not count unless the context of the game or answer clarifies which Springfield)

I'll use the results to tweak a real game scoring system.
One change I will make next week is that the sliding scale will change to based on the # correct, regardless of incorrect responses. The test system, which causes incorrect guesses to increase other scores, is because I had no idea of the number who would be playing in order to base the system.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Let's go with the Pyramid in Memphis, TN. 'cause if it was the Luxor, it would be bigger, and would have a sphinx out front.

Well, I bet a lot of people will fall for the Luxor in Las Vegas as today's distractor, but the reflection in the pyramid is all wrong for that.

I'll say that's the other famous American pyramid, in Memphis, TN.

That's the Luxor in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was there this summer. I won money there. It has diagonal elevators. For all of these reasons, it is a magical place.
