How he came to be on the show, he said, “was kind of a bizarre experience.” As he recounted it, ‘ast summer he was in a restaurant in Bantam “when I happened to see a show on TV,” which advertised that it was seeking future contestants. “I figured, Why not give it a shot?” he said, adding that no matter what the outcome of an audition was he’d have “a nice summer day in New York” to show for the experience.

Being poised, articulate and good-looking didn't hurt Sziklai's chances of rising through the ranks of hopefuls to make it to the popular TV show. But what really clinched the deal was the 29-year-old's command of eclectic information.
