Today and tomorrow I get to participate in a conference - however I'll be at my desk listening in by telephone. It's an all-day affair and I've been sent the slides that the varioius presenters will use (over 100 in all) but it will not be fun.

It won't be fun - starting with the fact that you have decided it won't be fun.

Wonder what would happen if you came in this morning and knew it would be fun.

You just might have found fun.

It's hard to imagine how listening in on a conference that you can't see or really be a part of could be fun. However I do look on this as the chance to learn something, so it's not a totally wasted day.

But you're saving the taxpayers a nice chunk of travel expenses and I thank you.

I do that most of the day, every day.

My point was - start imagining how it could be fun, rather than deciding it won't be.

You could do a crossword puzzle while listening.

I would get bored listning to people talk for two days by telephone.

Except that I'm sitting at my desk and I'm expected to look busy even if I'm only listening on the telephone (over a headset).

We're currently on a 15-minute break - it took 30 minutes just to get everyone hooked into the conference due to unspecified technical difficulties. The big problem so far is trying to keep straight who is speaking since we can't see any faces and the speakers don't always identify themselves.

I watch TV during mine. I just got off an hour and a half long problem call that had nothing to do with me. (I have have to be on those "just in case".)
