WWTBAM Bored

We don't have 'em very often, but the snowplows couldn't keep up and there were dozens of accidents all over town. Sooner or later, probably sooner, one of the accidents would have involved a busload of children. It used to be that the superintendent called school snow days, but those days are gone. Now it's the transportation director.

What I meant to add to that, but I guess I'm still sleepy, is that I joined the go-homers in one of the numerous organizations which shut down early to keep traffic to a minimum. So I came home and cleared snow for two hours, then fell asleep during the State of the Union address.

I'll just have to read the paper tomorrow to find out what else he said that made me mad.

HEY! We had a WIND/ICE and snow blowing all over the place day. So, last week was closed due to the cold, and now this week it is this.

SC, your DS's road was completely closed all day. They opened it up a bit earlier this evening to let a few folks through, but then they were planning on re-closing it.

They sent all the school kids home and sent Eric home too. (he works at the Idaho National Lab) Eric and co-worker #1 were riding back home after being told to go home, when co-worker #2 called CO#1 to see if he should go into work. CO#1 said, "SURE.....c'mon in!!!" It was like one of those silly cell phone commercials, because immediately after that, he lost the connection. He tried and tried to reach the guy on the phone, but no luck. I'm hoping the guy didn't end up going to work.

Kate just had snow in Seattle, and it looks like it is headed our way next.
With all the snow we've already received, (with no school closures) this is feeling more like Alaska, than Alaska did! LOL

It always cracks me up - places that really get snow hardly ever have snow days.

I also. I figure it's because they know how to deal with the snow since they get so much of it, whereas places like my hometown don't, so they tend to shift into overkill mode at the first hint of bad weather.

15 below here when I arrived at work this morning - and that's before the wind is factored in. Poor Kusch has it worse - ND is supposed to hit 50 below with the wc factor. brrrrrzzzy

My town has no snow plows. The automobiles have no snow tires. It takes far less snow here to make the roads dangerous.

Besides, when we get thick ice, all bets are off.

Have I mentioned that I hate ice?

No need to say poor kusch, I choose to live here. -20 when I arrived work today and suppose to hit -28 tonight. Late afternoon (yestterday) the wind really picked up and even tho we got no snow the wind blew what we had and I had to shovel about a 3'x24' drift in front of my garage this morning.

When it gets this cold my nipples get erect somewhat like they do with an activity I engage in every now and then.

On my station we have a sub DJ today. He said the regular DJ, due back from a ski vacation, is stuck in a snowstorm in Utah.

Very few snow tires here anymore, as well.

The trend is to buy all-season (all-weather) tires.

Nobody does chains either.

Of course, we do not get nearly as much snow as other places, like around Marley's neck of the woods.
