Wikipedia says this is on Nickelodion. Is it popular among kids, today? I've never heard of it.

Dang. Richard didn't realize that the question writers had switched to crossword-style clues (or a Jeopardy! clue with "ghost" has to appear in the response). I presume
this is the ghost they had in mind:

Apparently Richard didn't see the film
Adaptation or read "The Orchid Thief" that it was based upon.

An article about Richard's appearance was kind of harsh.
http://www.timesunion.com/local/article ... 983803.php
A Schenectady man who stretched his 15 minutes of fame across two days saw his run at $1 million come to an abrupt and costly end.
Richard Angehr of Schenectady, the manager for an outpatient mental health program at Ellis Hospital, was ousted less than five minutes into Friday's episode of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" without attempting to answer either of his questions, costing him half of his winnings from his first day on the show.

Never heard of this, so I'd ATA also. There's no strong 2nd spike, so I'll go with the audience.

I think perhaps Richard didn't notice the quotation marks based on his remarks. Had he seen that he might have realized that there's a species of orchid known as the "ghost orchid". A shame, and I don't think $17,550 will get his whole family to Ireland.
