If I am this tired by this time tomorrow for the J! test

I can forget it.

5:00am noise-making "vampire's hours" housemate didn't help.

You might do better. I just took the test for s&g while I was watching tv and passed. Had I been all tensed up trying to be "prepared" I probably would have muffed it.

Same with the old phone game. If I had complete quiet, was seated at an orderly table waiting to dial with a clean notebook and sharpened #2 pencils, I'd foul up. I did my best work kneeling in front of the coffee table scribbling questions in the margins of a newspaper while yelling at the kids to STFU, I'm on the phone.

It's a game show! Have fun!

I've been having "test yips" the last couple days - waking up in the middle of the night convinced that I'd forgotten some piece of information (such as the name of the national anthem of Russia) or some surrealistic dream in which something interfered with me taking the test). My darling wife had the same response - it's not life or death, it's just a game show.

Stop looking for excuses before the fact.

Setting up excuses before hand is a plan for failure.

I have an art class tomorrow night when the Jeopardy test for my time zone is going on. I suppose I could take a laptop with a broadband card and take the test while in class. A naked man sitting cross legged and leaning over a computer while ten students draw him would be a rather interesting sight. But it wouldn't be professional and would distract the class. Maybe next year...

Can't you do it in another time zone?

Is there a rule that you have to pick the one in your time zone?

I don't intend to fail the test - I haven't done so in the other years I've done it, and I doubt the test is any harder than those in the past. Of course I'll never know for sure since we never hear about our scores and, even if I pass, there is no guarantee I'll get selected for an audition. But my focus is on the test, and let the rest fall where it will.

It wasn't exactly pointed at you.

Not even not exactly.

More like not at all.

I beg your pardon.

They recommend that you take it in your own time zone, but you are allowed to take it in another, if your schedule requires it.

Personally, I think Daniel's pose over the computer would result in some unique drawings! All the other poses have been done countless times, right?

Get a sculptor in, for a modern-day version of "The Thinker". Future 'BAM question: Which model of laptop is he using?

Since I'm routinely tired in the early evening, that situation will be normal for me. In any case, the more you try, the better you get at the test-taking, in itself a helpful lesson.

BD and GW have already been warned that I will be unavailable for about 25 minutes tonight (test time plus early log-in to make sure I can get in). Last year's score was around 28; not even being able to come up with a good guess at the first three shot my confidence all to hell. I WILL get at least 40 tonight.

[Bullwinkle]This time for sure![/Bullwinkle]

Even better, Daniel could borrow the drawings to take to the J! audition, for a unique hook! "Here's me taking the online test." 8)

You can do a test on a different day.

I didn't see anything about taking it on another night when I skimmed the rules. But I think I'll try logging in tonight during the Eastern time zone tests and see if I can't take it then.

You need to sign up in advance. Get over there and sign up for tonight or Thursday. The info about taking the test in another time zone is in the FAQs -- or somewhere in the small print. I read it, too.

Right from the initial online test page:

http://www.jeopardy.com/onlinetests/nat ... _index.php
* We strongly encourage you to take the test in your own time zone. However, you may take the test on another night depending on the demands of your schedule. Remember: you may only log in and take the test once. Subsequent attempts will result in disqualification.
