In 1990, smoking was prohibited on all domestic flights under six hours long. Only a few domestic flights exceed six hours, mainly westbound New York to LA and similar flights. I'm pretty sure I haven't been on a smoking flight since 1990, and it appears that all smoking was discontinued long before it was officially "banned."

If I had been standing at the Hot Podium, I'd have asked for clarification about what they meant by "all U.S. scheduled flights." Apparently, they meant all domestic and international flights, but it would have been easy to interpret that as all domestic flights, only.
