Uh-oh.

#1 Post by wbtravis007 » Mon Jan 28, 2008 3:30 pm

My four-year-old woke up yesterday with fever and congestion. She slept with us last night. Most of the time she either had her face about an inch from mine or her head on my chest.

My wife just called and reported that the doctor confirmed the flu. My wife and both kids had gotten flu shots. I didn't get one.

I'm screwed.

Yep, you're screwed. As soon as you feel the symptoms, go to your doctor and get some Tamiflu. It will shorten the time you are sick.

Hopefully, your wife will stay well.

Ugh.

Is there a strain of flu going around that wasn't included in this year's shot?

It has been a relatively quiet flu season so far and to the best of my knowledge nothing out of the ordinary has popped up yet.

Which doesn't mean it won't. We are really just now in the peak of the typical flu season.

The ones who got the flu shots will probably get it. You probably won't. That's just the way it works.

I hope none of you come down with it and the little one is feeling better very soon.

I hear ya, Brother. Although I am feeling rather fine this morning.....tis still early, but hey, what the heck. Ex will come over this morning after work (he's on graveyard shift) and keep Big J company today. He'll crash on the sofa.

I'm with you, Peacock. I did have one flu shot that I was forced to get back when I was in high school. Some kind of scare about the swine flu I think and they gave mass inoculations at the school. One and only flu shot I've ever had and I have never had the flu.

I hope it stays that way.

I got one flu shot in my life and have never been so sick. Never again.

It used to annoy the heck out of me when Sting would tell people "She claims to have never had the flu."

He really did not believe me.

One day, he asked Pealette if I ever had the flu - she saked his "What's the flu?" He said "Sick in bed for days, thinking you are going to die."

She said "In bed for days - no way she has ever had the flu."

Annoyed Sting even more when she told him she has never had it either.

Forgot to say-

He now tells people that I have a superior immune system and have managed to make it this far in life without the flu.

I guess that's better.

I figure you're probably just like my mom- even if you ever had the flu, you'd just shrug it off anyway.

3/4 of a "good immune system" is just force of will, IMHO.

I secretly think this is true as well.

I don't say it to 'sickly' people as it tends to annoy them and makes no difference.
