I'm not sure how you can tell if Northwestern University is better than Auburn at anything, volleyball included. That is the NU you meant, right?

BTW, go Boilers! Purdue faces #1 Florida on Friday in the Austin Regional.

There are six current Big Ten teams in the final 16 of the women's volleyball tournament: Purdue, Illinois, Penn St, Ohio State, Minnesota, and some other team that wears red. Nebraska will make Big Ten women's volleyball even tougher starting next year.

And Washington is better than Nebraska: Washington 3 Nebraska 1

Final 8 of NCAA volleyball play tonight:

(16) Purdue v. (9) Texas
(12) Duke v. (4) Penn State
(3) Stanford v. (6) Southern Cal
(7) Cal v. (NR) Washington

The Final Four play Thursday and Saturday in Kansas City, MO.

Looks like I might be in the heartland this weekend, pending other work commitments. Oh, USC has already beaten Stanford tonight and is waiting to see if we play either UW or Cal (Cal leads UW 2-0 as I write this).

Sadly, because of an officiating error, we will never know.

Nebraska apparently won the 4th set on a long hit by UW, only to have the linesman call it in, which then tied the match up (27-27 or 26-26, IIRC). Unfortunately, there was no instant replay to correct the call.

Apparently, the UW coach also nearly attacked the Husker coach (John Cook) after the match ended.

Cal v. Southern Cal

Purdue gave Texas a good match despite losing our best setter in the first game last night and not having one of our best hitters that we lost earlier in the tournament. Purdue won game 1 and then came back in game 4 but ended up losing 27-25 after being ahead 25-24.

I read the synopsis of the game and couldn't believe they did as well as they did after they lost their setter. Congrats on a good run.
