TPTB might have made this question more difficult for those who only vaguely remember the rules about leap years in years divisible by 100 and 400, but since they didn't have 8 as a choice, that wouldn't be a problem, here.

During the early days of the show (when it was still good), didn't someone (possibly Jeremy Llama) get a question that required him to know the sequence of Presidential elections? I think it was something basic like 'how many Presidential elections occurred during the 1970's?' It's one thing not to know how many times Lindsay Lohan has been in rehab, or even to know off the top of your head how many Presidents did not serve their full terms, but it is really amazing when people do not know stuff like 'how often do Leap Years occur?'

Although, as it happens, this was a bit of a trick question-- Leap Years do occur every four years, except that 'century' years (years ending in 00) are generally NOT Leap Years, UNLESS they are divisible by 400. So, 1700, 1800 and 1900 would not have been Leap Years, but 2000 was; if someone knew the general rule that 'century years are not Leap Years' they might have been misled here, forgetting about the exception-to-the-exception about every fourth century. I had a great aunt born 2/29/1892, who died in 1979, so she actually only had 20 birthdays, not 21, because 1900 was not a Leap Year.

Yes, except that not knowing whether 2000 was a leap year or not would just leave you uncertain whether the correct answer was 8 or 9. As Marley pointed out, 8 was not one of the four choices. It didn't seem tricky to me. Even those terrified by math could easily count it out on their fingers.
