I've got you beat by a week. They started playing non-stop Christmas music last Friday on a radio station from Grand Rapids.
They also are playing it at Meijer to get people in the mood to buy stuff, and at my Mecca they have a HUGE tree up right as you enter the store. It's at least 9 feet tall and all decorated.
I haven't even had Thanksgiving dinner or my birthday cake yet.

I like being able to check on titles/artists I cannot peg on the way to work later when I have computer access.

The only good thing about the death of Mecca Radio last year was not having to hear the #&@* Christmas music on the PA from November 1 til December 24......
The silence lasted just one season. It kicked on sometime while I was off the last couple days.... and it doesn't even stop when someone is making a page.....
Shoot me....

Thank God for XM radio!
What used to be my favorite local FM station always plays Christmas music 24/7 starting with Thanksgiving day. My search for other stations during the holidays is what lead me to find enough alternatives so I no longer use that station at all.

I don't understand or claim to understand. I have never heard anyone evince enthusiasm for two months of the same overplayed 40 ditties, only a few of which qualify as carols, and I also doubt that there would be a subliminal jolt to the buying areas of the brain to justify.
Mind you, up here, the modern Québécois will listen to Highway to Hell on the way to Midnight Mass.

They started playing 24/7 on a radio station in Chicago last Monday IIRC. I used to like that station, but now I'm avoiding it like the plague until mid December. A few years ago I remember they used to start the day after Thanksgiving, but then they started playing it earlier and earlier. Then they stop at midnight on December 26th.

well, I did find a page which claimed 10% ratings improvement for stations going all XMAS early, at least in 2006. And now I've lost it. But it refers to
http://www.100000watts.com
which is a subscriber site anyhow.
It is also of interest that the #1 XMAS song in 2006 and 2004, and #2 in 2005:
Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives.
