I've been very happy over the fact that I've hardly had to yell at the TV over contestants not knowing easy questions, but I had to today, unfortunately. Why would there be a place in the Lower 48 that you could only reach by boat or plane? Too, too easy.

Well, there are islands without bridges to the mainland, in Chesapeake Bay, for example. But coupling that fact with the sound of the name "Aniakchak" makes Alaska a much more likely answer than Maryland.

But excuse me, I'm got to walk out to a dry lake bed and collect some rock silver. :P

[Reveal] Spoiler: Answer
Is this right? I actually saw a cartoony thing with that title, as 'light' part of a Continuing Legal Education thing, and it had to do with how a bill gets passed into law.

Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve is a U.S. National Monument and National Preserve, consisting of the region around the Aniakchak volcano on the Aleutian Range of south-western Alaska.

The area was proclaimed a national monument on December 1, 1978, and established as a national monument and preserve on December 2, 1980. The national monument is 137,176 federal acres (555 km²) and the preserve is 465,603 acres (1,884 km²) of which 439,863 are federal. The area is maintained by the National Park Service. With only 285 documented recreational visits in 2004, this remote place is perhaps the least visited unit of the National Park System. Most visitors fly into the area, but the frequent fog and other adverse weather conditions make landing difficult.
Sounds like a great place to visit if you don't like crowds!

But aren't they planning on building a bridge there?

Definitely right. The bill was to require

school buses to stop at railroad crossings
.

Even as a kid the idea that the only way to solve a problem was to get a congressman to pass a federal law really irked me.

Somehow I doubt that.

You narrow it down to one and then ATA? You'll regret burning that lifeline, I suspect.

I don't know this one either, so I'll JTQ because I don't know if the audience will know it. I told you, George, that you'd regret burning that lifeline.

I believe Isle Royale National Park is only accessible by boat or plane. But the name almost screams "Alaska".
