I was in the audience for this week.

They cut out a pretty poor game right before this. Some lady Jumped question one, used Audience on question two for $100, and Jumped question three. She had no idea on question four and Meredith had to go through the awkward conversation of, "You can walk with $50 or guess and miss to get $1,000." She missed. They just stopped before she walked off stage, brought someone new, and redid the act.

Question 3-I knew it wasn't Wendys because that was named for the founder's daughter. Morton Salt is really old (back to the early 20th century), and I think a very young Jodie Foster was a Coppertone mascot. So it's B by process of elimination. Too bad he didn't have a Double Dip or a 50/50.

That was my reasoning also. I would have answered Fresno without hesitating.

My dear sainted mother was totally entranced with a spoof mini-series called Fresno starring Carol Burnett. She called it Raisins and did not miss an episode.

While Morton's Salt may be really old, the umbrella girl didn't appear until 1914, just 2 years before the Sun Maid girl in the question.

His third audition? And this was what made him attractive to the APs? (Or, at least, it was the lead anecdote they chose, out of everything they talked about before and after being cast for the show.)

Wow. And TPTB didn't want to show that? But isn't that outcome part of what they were going for when they ditched the traditional ladder of question difficulties and values?

It's a shame they edited that one out. That appearance pretty much epitomizes the new version of the show.

No, not quite. If it was a fourth rate celebrity flaming out in that manner, that would perfectly epitomize the new version of the show.

It's a shame. He got off to such a good start. Hmmm...it's not Wendy's and it's not Coppertone (wasn't that Jodie Foster?). I don't associate California with rain ("It Never Rains in Southern California" and Morton's slogan is "When it rains, it pours".), so it must be Sun-Maid.
