Adventure Boy called. He was notified this morning that, after passing all written and practical exams, he is an official, registered, nationally certified EMT.

His life will never be dull.

His life will never be dull and he will be responsible for others having a life.

Bless him.

Congrats!

(I seriously considered this as a career way back when <there wasn't much else then for Bio People between nurse & doctor, though there is now> but decided I didn't want to be responsible for someone's death because "my mind wandered" for a few seconds. Which it would, I know it. These people have to be faster than fast, both mentally & sometimes physically as well. All power to them.)

Congratulations, sliv and AB!!

As the father of an EMT, I know how difficult yet rewarding this step is.

Thank goodness someone wants to do this line of work---I get the vapors when they draw blood from me (or anyone else for that matter).

Kudos to Adventure Boy and Mom. We love our firefighters/EMTs. They're a special group. I don't know how they do what they do.

For the same reason mine never will: someone always will do something dumb.

Congratulations!

That's cool.

I gotta admit, I'm more like tennis guy here. You'll never catch me rubber-necking around accidents.

I love it when there's a match of talent, brains, motivation, and physical ability to a difficult and challenging job.

They're lucky to have him.

That's my two-footer brother. I'm proud, too!

I may be wrong, but I sort of think I'm part of the reason he wanted to be an EMT. The day I had my traffic accident, I was with him. Well, actually, I got way in front of him, because I wanted to show him how fast I could run. I shouldn't have done that, but I did. I was young and foolish.

Anyway, after I met the tires on the SUV, he was very upset. He wanted to do more to help me. Lots of cars stopped. Everybody wanted to help me. Some people stopped traffic. One guy took off his t-shirt to use for compression to try to stop the bleeding. A nice family took him and me to the emergency hospital far away. Those vet people knew how to help more, and they did. My brother was sad that I got hurt, but he seemed happy and grateful that those people didn't let me die.

I think maybe, just maybe, he wants to pay it forward.

Little tears of whoo hooo slipping out here.
