AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(My, that was therapeutic.)

Gotta say that I do like Marley's idea of matching a contestant's winnings rather than donating via celebrities. Especially now. And, FTR, the audition questionnaire a few years back actually did ask prospective contestants what charity they would like to receive a donation should TPTB decide to match the amount of a contestant's winnings as a donation to the preferred charity.

Of course, TPTB couldn't pass up the opportunity to run with a celebrity edition now, could they?

OK, on the plus side-my grandpa has Alzheimers and I'm glad they are raising money for research.  I do NOT want to ever get this disease. On the minus side-having celebs play with new rules that aren't easily understandable probably is NOT a good idea.On to the stack-Question 3-where's the Double Dip or 50/50?  I had it down to B and D, figuring that A and C didn't make sense. I'd have to JTQ here. The question about voice character actor was a good one for JTQ, also, as I had no idea.

The one he ATAd on was easy for me. If he had REMEMBERED the TOPIC of the question, he might have saved himself a lifeline.

Oh well, $10K for a good cause is better than nothing.

...they have for eight seasons. This is the first celebrity edition in the syndicated version. Come on now.

The questions were easier, but maybe we can see some advancement of the game this week. We came close to it today.

And also the only other Hanna-Barbera character. Don Messick voiced tons of Hanna-Barbera characters, most of them animals. "Human" voices included Ranger Smith, Dr. Benton Quest, and Papa Smurf.

The only question in his stack that would have given me pause was the fashion one. It was easy to narrow it down to Chichi or Froufrou, but beyond that I had no clue. I guess I wasn't 100% on the "kirk" question either, but the fact that the category was "Biblical Architecture" and the fact that "kirk" and "church" look pretty much the same (if you replace the "ch" in the English word with the "k" in the Scottish word) seemed to make this a no-brainer.

I agree with Marley's observation that having regular contestants and matching their winnings would be a better thing to do, but celebrities draw attention.

I don't know whether it was his first role, but I'll always picture him as Jesus in the movie version of "Godspell", also featuring Lynne Thigpen.

Way to telegraph the answer in the question topic, TPTB. Biblical Architecture? Well, gee, I guess there might be barns mentioned in the bible.

No clue for me, so I'd need a JTQ here. No clue for Victor, either, but because he's playing under special rules, he could WAG without falling all the way to $1K.

Actually barns are mentioned 5 times in the Bible (Deut. 28:8; Psalm 144:13; Prov. 3:10; Matt. 6:26; and Luke 12:18).

Like I said, I thought so, ear. It makes Biblical Architecture a perfectly sensible topic title for a question about Scottish dialect, doesn't it? :P

And "barn" sounds like "bairn" which means "child" in Scottish. And there are lots of Biblical quotations about children!

Meredith mentioned that everyone in the audience was wearing purple shirts, because that's the color of the Alzheimer’s Association. She didn't explain why all the shirts worn in the back rows said "MOVE" on them, which seemed puzzling to me. Apparently, that's from the slogan for their Memory Walk fundraiser: We're on the MOVE to end Alzheimer's.

The Scottish word for barn is

"bern".

Hospital is pretty much hospital. Scots do use "spital" but that is more of a rest home.

School is "schuil".

Yeah, those old serials were great.

So that would make that lead guitarist what--about 100 years old now? :P

They mentioned on the show that both of Victor's parents suffered from Alzheimer's. I've been waiting to see if the other celebrities shared a similar connection. So far, there's been no further mention of that. Just a random selection of celebs who were told "here's who you're playing for."
