First question (15K) I guess he never heard of "Pretty in Pink", which Molly Ringwald was in way back in the 80s.

Third question-can I Double Dip? I narrowed it down to A and B. C and D seemed too long.

Seventh question-ATA, it's pop culture and they might know it.

Ninth question-I thought it was Russia. Might have jumped this one.

The $100K question was from a show in 2009, as explained by Meredith. Which is good, since that means the days of the spoiler question are over.

FYI, the $100k question wasn't David's. It was a question from last season.

I like what the Team's doing with the transcript format. I would respectfully suggest the following additional info be included:

1. Adding the topic to the question, where you're putting the question number.
2. Indicating which jump the question is used - the first or second one.

I think David blew it strategically, unless he was pretty sure about the answer to the question he missed. He was sitting on a bank of $46,500 - having been lucky and getting his big money questions early. He could have walked with $23,250 instead of $1k. The new strategy considerations definitely make the new format interesting.

So they're doing "sneak peaks" at old questions? Why???

Because it's the only way we'll ever see high-value questions this year?

If Nappy thought Russia was a sleeping giant he wouldn't have awakened it by invading. It might be Egypt, but I've heard the expression applied to China before, though without attribution.

I know they're randomized but still it just seems odd to me to have a relatively easy question end up being a high-dollar question. But that's the brave new world we live in, I guess.

As far as I can tell, we don't get the show here this season.

That other thread about the changes in the format made my head hurt. So, in a nutshell, what are the available lifelines now?

Thanks in advance. :)

You're welcome!

But do you understand how the Jump The Question lifelines work with the bank and only being able to walk away with half of the bank while in Round 1, but being able to keep the whole bank if you walk away at the end of Round 1, but you still only have a $25,000 safe haven if you continue playing Round 2, despite the possibility of having a larger amount in that bank?

I missed the first episode - is there a difference in the two JTQ, just curious as to why which one is used would make a difference. Also, while we are putting in our transcription wish list - it would be nice to see the running bank tally - if that is something that is easy to incorporate.

I have an addition to the "How Can We Make Being On The Transcript Team An Even More Thankless Job Than It Already Is" list, but first I'd like to thank them all for the service they provide. I am grateful and only suggest format enhancements which are minimal and hopefully are in everyone's general interest.

I wonder if it wouldn't be too much trouble to add to the topic tree a number in parentheses which indicates its position in the topic tree prior to it being shuffled. Over time this could give Transcript readers a sense of whether or not the initial topic tree is ordered by level of difficulty. As discussed in another thread, this information could help future contestants determine if an intuitive answer is most likely correct (on an easy question) or a bank-draining distractor (on a more difficult question). It seemed to hold for David's stack (the tie-in to "Pretty" in pink question was near the bottom of the initial stack) but the only way to have any confidence in this observation would be to monitor the shuffling continually.

The only difference between the two JTQs is that after the 2nd one you don't have any more left. :)

Not having seen yesterday's episode...they're showing the shuffling on the show, like they do for the on-line game? They hardly spent any time on the topic tree last season; adding another fleeting glimpse of the shuffling (when TPTB don't even want contestants to know the question values or difficulties, because that somehow is supposed to promote "more strategy") is nothing more than a distraction.

Oops, sorry. And I did that deliberately, too.

So let me simply again: TPTB want contestants to walk after the first ten questions, if they can get that far.

Four of nine questions on 2010 pop culture? Ugh. (And two more on consumer goods from the 1990s and 1950s?) The Swanson and Facebook questions seemed particularly arbitrary bits of ephemera. I guess they don't want anyone to have lifelines left for the last four questions....
