What is the 10th digit past the decimal point in the mathematical constant known as "pi"?
A. 3 B. 5
C. 7 D. 9
Now this is downright spooky. I once thought about this, and this is EXACTLY the question that I figured I would ask. And one I would like to have been asked on the show (since I know the answer).ten96lt wrote:Since I'm bored lets see if we can get anyone else to participate in this what would you do game. Say you're given the task of writing questions for Millionaire and you're at the MDQ. What would you make as your MDQ?

I figured it'd be good because it's a number everyone knows about, but how far down does the average person remember. And great minds think alike.wintergreen48 wrote:Now this is downright spooky. Not only did I see Grace Hopper hold up the bug, I saw Gene Amdahl hold up a wire illustrating how far electricity travelled in a nanosecond (which is near the speed of light).BackInTex wrote:Approximately, how far does light travel in one billionth of a second?

I never saw Grace hold up the bug, but I did see her twice with her nanosecond. Once in '76 at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, IN and around '80 at Texas A&M.Bob Juch wrote:Not only did I see Grace Hopper hold up the bug, I saw Gene Amdahl hold up a wire illustrating how far electricity travelled in a nanosecond (which is near the speed of light).BackInTex wrote:Approximately, how far does light travel in one billionth of a second?

Now that's a good one! With the pi question, you either know it or you don't. With stuff like this, you think you have a chance to reason it out (even if you don't).minimetoo26 wrote:Well, they can't all be science and math questions! So now that you can't have a PaF Googling, mine would be:
What is Agatha Christie's maiden name?
A: Mallowan
B: Miller
C: Westmacott
D: Lemon
Since she's famous enough everyone should know who she is and all the choices are associated with her in one way or another.
I saw it quite by accident in the Library of Congress info on a collection I had and tried to Google it unsuccessfully for confirmation a few years ago. I had to know the answer to find the answer. Now it pops up easily, but the PaF is gone so the Google component is gone.FannytheBull wrote:Now that's a good one! With the pi question, you either know it or you don't. I don't know this one (and I'm actually interested enough to want to), but I did know Anne Rice's birth name......
And, in looking it up, (I haz a Google!!!1) I also learned her pen name. I didn't even know she had one.minimetoo26 wrote:I saw it quite by accident in the Library of Congress info on a collection I had and tried to Google it unsuccessfully for confirmation a few years ago.
