I believe my score was added incorrected, Mr. Judge, sir. Even if you rule me incorrect on question #4 on the Double Jeopardy round, I get $7400.

Furthermore, why is square incorrect for the $800 or is it $1600? A square has four equal sides otherwise it would be a rectangle. I checked the Merriam-Webster on-line dictionary and definition #2 says "a rectangle with all four sides equal".

The clue was "Four-sided polygon with all sides the same length", not "rectangle with all sides the same length". There are many (an infinite number, in fact) four-sided polygons that are not rectangles. Thus there are many 4-sided polygons with four equal sides that are not squares. Rhombus is the correct answer. Square is a wrong answer. I said right in the beginning to be careful to not get too specific.

It was -$1600. I posted that I just screwed the DJ values up, and then edited them back.

$200 + $400 + $600 + $800 + $1000 + $400 + $800 + $1200 - $1600 + $2000 = $5800

If you'd rather, I could rescind the doubling of the scores of the DJ clues. Then you'd have $200 + $400 + $600 + $800 + $1000 + $200 + $400 + $600 - $800 + $1000, which, if I did my math right, is $4400.

I'm not willing to keep the one you got wrong at $800 and double the ones you got right, but even if I were, it still wouldn't be $7400, it'd be $6600

I am siding with Greyhound and MrK on this issue of square versus rhombus.

Note that in the $400 question, you ask for the generic term. In that $1600 question, you did not ask for the generic or "overarching" term.

Is a square a "Four-sided polygon with all sides the same length"? Yes.

In fact, square is a legitimate answer to the "rectangle" question, as well, with the ambiguous manner in which the question is posed.

Plus, seeing that this is a make-believe game by a non-professional writer, I always feel that the QOD Meister needs to err on the side of "allowing leeway" on answers.

I believe I understand why prospective QoD meisters are not eager to volunteer.

I thought that this being "a make-believe game by a non-professional writer" with the title Meister means the Meister needs to do and can do anything he or she damn well pleases, especially if the Meister is spending gobs of time doing this for our edification when he or she could very welll be doing something else.

Yes, and I fully believe in "your game, your rules". However, I also think that Meisters should not think that their questions are without any flaws.

Personally, the few times that I meistered, even if I thought that the complaining party was incorrect, I tried to give the benefit of the doubt that my question should have been phrased better.

In the end, you are right. WGAS, if there is no real money invovled, only points.

Ultimately, the meister has the final say. I feel if we don't respect his/her final judgement, we need not play anymore. I respect their final decision and praise their time and effert to generate these "quizes". I enjoy them and will continue to participate.

Thanks again Ol' Quizmeister for all your energies!!!! Keep up the good work. :D
