Amen!

I've been to 17 other countries, some "developed," some not.

We are incredibly lucky to be who and where we are.

I hope that those that despise (not just disagree with) the others of whatever political party realize that fundamental truth.

I am humbled by the luck of my draw in the cosmic lottery.

The mere fact that those that despise those of another political party (especially whatever party is in power at the moment) are still walking around free to do more despising is proof of how fortunate we are in this country.

Here's hoping for many more great years.

Don't blame me. I'm only using the sparklers, the ladyfingers, and the pop bottle rockets aimed at your roof, and it's not my fault if that's making every dog in the neighborhood go crazy. I'm saving all the big stuff until dark.

If you're going to burn anything down, at least make it the grass in the backyard..... it should be dry enough since it hasn't rained in a week....

I'd feel bad about setting fire to your grass. Then somebody would call the fire department, and they'd send the big trucks with the loud sirens, which would wake you up again. I'd hate to do that on a holiday. I'm thoughtful.

Fireworks? It's all about the hot dogs. Joey Chestnut vs. ? It won't be the same without Kobayashi, though.

I have a feeling the city has put me on the bottom of their priority list for city services after the ditch flap. By the time they responded, I'd probably already be at work, so feel free.....

From AP:

"NEW YORK -- Competitive eater Joey Chestnut has held on to his title at the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at New York's Coney Island, but one of his biggest rivals tried to crash the celebration and has been taken into custody.

Chestnut chomped down on 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes on Sunday to win the annual Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Contest for the fourth year in a row.

Watching from the crowd was six-time champion Takeru Kobayashi who has not signed a contract with Major League Eating to be free to compete in contests sanctioned by other groups."

There's a Major League Eating league? Who knew.

Here are the current records recognized by MLE.

If Frogman or anyone else wants the poutine record, they'll have to eat more than 13 pounds of poutine in 10 minutes.

The record doesn't reflect whether or not it's traditional poutine...

?? I didn't think that was me. When did my hair turn from brown to orange, and how did I lose the Elway jersey?

I still love the avatar. It's my pick for #1 this year.

That's because I've probably tweaked your character over the years more than any other. The Elway jersey will come and go, but for consistency's sake you should be shirt free like everyone else. And since without the jersey you basically looked the same as Kiki's character, I changed the hair color from brown to orange and even switched your fur color from basic yellow to the darker shade that appears in my default paintbox, which I actually think is closer to the shade of yellow I used in your original portrait anyway (And of course, while you are now easy to tell apart from Kiki, you are beginning to morph into Jessie, ha!).....

What can I say, ES enjoys experimenting with you......

No, he seems to have some respect for that mangy hide he carries around on his back. He stays away from me.

This was the July 4 BC: http://comics.com/bc/?Page=4 Tomorrow it will be Page=5, etc.

This poster was put up on all my workplace bulletins yesterday: "LOST -- Sundance, Australian Shepherd mix, blue merle with copper. Last seen running hard up Second St. to avoid fireworks. Red collar, blue leash, both probably lost by now."

We're about 10 blocks from that area. Poor little guy, hope they found him.
