I was absolutely screaming at the TV! I have Alan Freed's autograph. Met him April 11, 1958 at one of his Rock 'n' Roll shows. I listened to him every night from WABC in NY. Those programs were awesome! I remember one night he had Jimmy Clanton (my Justin Bieber) and Jackie Wilson in the studio with him singing.

In fact, I'm heading back down to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in a couple of weeks. Alan was my hero - payola or no payola. It's what everybody did in those days including Dick Clark. Alan was his fall guy, in my opinion.

As for the "Moondog" name - that was left behind in Cleveland. Whoever wrote this question had no idea where Alan went from there.

As a Clevelander, I too was screaming. The Moondog name has actually lived on and has been co-opted by several radio stations who use it to refer to events, like the "Majic 105.7 Moondog Coronation --let's invite once popular acts from the 1950s that are willing to work for leftovers -- Ball."

I learned that fact from the QoD several years ago. It pays to play. --Bob

My first thought was "Rio" and couldn't match it. Then when I went back through the capitals it hit me.

Good thing she did the DD. I'm guessing Wolfman Jack was considered because of his fame.

It's nice to see a contestant willing to gamble and it's a shame the gamble didn't pay off. I had to read "Madame Bovary" in high school.

Thought that was a pretty tough question with TDC in play, and for only 12.5K. Especially with the generally geography challenged cast members that usually occupy the chair. The language distractor in the clue had me looking at Louisiana initially before figuring it out. Not sure I would have beaten the clock although I don't know how long it runs at this level.

Sacramento could be a bit of a distractor as well I suppose but my mind first went to Baton Rouge.

Gotta give her props for getting that one in time and without a lifeline.
