Fun facts! This was the final week of episodes taped. I was there for this one.

I've been to the show 4 times. 3 times for the syndie version and I was there for the Patricia Heaton Situation last summer. In my four times there I have seen five people leave with $0. I can never seem to see a single contestant win any big money. I have some sort of a curse on that set.

You might want to keep that to yourself. I'm glad I didn't know you nine years ago!

I think the contestant was confused by sitting across from Meredith. He thought the correct term was "commando."

Everybody makes a big deal about the fact that Jacobs read the entire Encyclopedia Britannica. So what? I read the World Book when I was a child and no one from NPR interviewed me about it. He's also known for writing A Year of Living Biblically in which he tried to adhere to the strictures of the Bible regarding food, diet, and other things.

I wonder how much sympathy the audience has for unemployed traders, particularly if they worked on Wall Street for one of the banks that got us into the Great Recession?*

*Not that I have any knowledge of who Chris's former employer was or what he traded. Maybe it was baseball cards.

There seems to be something special about traders and llamas. Robby Roseman was a commodities trader in Chicago.

I think that's 12 for the season so far, hopefully Chris was the last llama in the can.
Twelve is hardly a record, but it's been awhile since there were so many in one season.

According to wwtbam.biz, past syndibam seasons break out thusly with respect to llama count:

Season 1: 17
Season 2: 14
Season 3: 9
Season 4: 5
Season 5: 6
Season 6: 8
Season 7: 5

Any pet theories as to why so many llamas?
Given that the damn clock was introduced in season 7, it can't be just that.

How about TDC plus an increase in WWOQs, which offset the more generous lower tier?

Okay, perhaps not true WWOQs, but questions that aren't immediately obvious, like the first tier used to be.

How about including PTBAM llamas? I'd be interested in seeing how many of those there were.

Back to what he may have been thinking: Perhaps with the pressure of the clock his brain was seeing "hereafter" instead of "altogether," especially if the word "euphemistically" made an impression. In this day and age I don't think many people think of "naked" as needing a euphemism. (Although when I was growing up, in the altogether would have been the only acceptable term to use!)

This is my first post on the bored, and it's so late for this topic that no one will see it! (I would have added to the string sooner, but I was waiting for the e-mail that said I'd been activated. Guess I didn't need to!) Hope I'm doing it correctly. Happy to be here in any case.

Not true! When someone adds a post to the thread, it moves that thread to the top of the list and many of us will read it to see what's been added!

Thanks, everyone! I've been lurking for so long I feel I know you all. I was always afraid to register because I was paranoid it would hurt my audition chances. After roughly 20 attempts though I don't think my chances can get any worse, so what the heck. Glad to learn new posts send the topic up the list. (Clever, you folks are.) Don't think I'll ever figure out how to copy the text you want to respond to, but I guess trying will give me something to do while I'm waiting for my rejection postcards. (A glutton for punishment, I'm going again on June 30th--anyone else?)

Welcome, SallyElizabeth!

Each post has a "quote" button in it. In my interface (style), it is in the lower right corner of each post.

When you press that, it brings up a text box, just like the "post reply" and "new topic" buttons do, except that the post you "quoted" will now be at the top, enclosed within "quote tags" ([ quote ] and [/ quote ], but without the spaces). Within that text box, you can leave the quote intact, or cut it down to just the sentence or paragraph to which you're responding.

If you meant copying text in general, place your cursor at either end of the text you want to copy, press and hold down the left mouse button, go over to the other end of the text you want to copy and then press the "copy" icon at the top of your browser, or use the keyboard shortcut Control-C (hold down the Ctrl key and press the letter C). That copies the text into your notepad, from where it can be pasted elsewhere using the paste button or Control-V.

Speaking of the interface, it is configureable (changeable) from within the "User Control Panel," which should appear as a link near the top of this page. Many of us prefer the "Subsilver2" choice, as it puts the Bored Member and their associated avatar and other info on the left side of each of their posts. The "User Control Panel" is also where you would go to set an avatar or a signature. If you have trouble getting around in there, let us know what you're trying to do and we'll give you the exact steps to do it.

Do tell. Would you care to be added to the Audition Lists? I just need to know the dates of your auditions, whether you passed the written test, whether you ever got a video interview, and whether you got a card (based on your post, presumably a :( card). --Bob
