Once again, they mentioned how it was Robyn's dad who really wanted to be on the show, but that Robyn was selected, instead. It'd be nice if Meredith would have explained why dad didn't make the cut. :|

Here's an article about Robyn's appearance.

We never do discover what exactly this title means.

It's either A or D. From the comfort of my recliner I chose D without hesitation; in the HS I might have used DD.

He probably wasn't telegenic enough. :P

Perhaps he didn't pass the written test. Or his essay.

I'd have no problem if dad had failed the written test. If it was his telegenics or his "essay"--both code words for him being a boring old guy--then I find this bantering topic extremely <grumble>®-worthy.

There's a considerable headline vs. story mismatch:

Headline:
Bethlehem woman wins 'Millionaire'

First line of story:
Robyn Paul, a 31-year-old Bethlehem woman, walked away with $15,000 on ABC's game show "Who Wants to be A Millionaire" on Monday.

I suppose those un-Americans feel that not losing equals winning...

Perhaps you didn't phrase that as gracefully as you had intended. I didn't win a million dollars on television, but I most certainly never have considered myself as a loser. Nope. Can't do it.

If you have a complaint, it's with the headline that omits "on" between "wins" and "Millionaire."

I'm not sure whether you're kidding or not. I didn't say she is a loser. In my reference to the World Cup and TdF threads, I specifically said "not losing." I agree with the missing preposition part. Had they said "wins cash" or even "wins big" (a relative term), I wouldn't have said a thing. To me, "winning Millionaire" means the big jackpot.

Okay. Thanks for the longer exposition. I thought you were saying that only those who answer their 15th questions correctly were winners on Millionaire. (I concede that they are bigger winners than me and most other contestants.) I recognized your nod to the soccer threads, but I misunderstood the point you were making. I should have asked Annie to 'splain it to me. :)

I'm happy to have cleared that up. Some people call me on stuff I've said, I get a chance to better explain my comments and we're all happy. Other people call me on stuff I've said and no matter how many times I try to explain, they insist, no - THEY KNOW, that I had evil intent all along and am retrofitting a back story to cover...

True. "Misunderstood Genius" might give you better PR.

Isn't Evil Genius a Fannyism?

I always thought it was fitting because you you are (usually) diabolically clever and/or funny (at least to me) when you call out someone over something in a post. You are what a lot of other "nitpickers" on this Bored only wish they were (rather than the pompous asses they usually come off as).....

Of course, if you don't like it, I could always alter/do away with it.....

That depends...

First to claim

First to apply it to me

"Other 'nitpickers'"???!! I'm a nitpicker?

Don't you dare. I revel in it. It was just my diabolically clever way to let RB know that I neither came up with it nor put it into my Member Profile as my "Rank."

Well, who would have guessed that ES would be trying to pass himself off as an evil genius? Of course, to fit the last half of that, I believe you have to be smart....

That was my first impression of you after you came out of your shell on this Bored, and I'm sticking to it!

Spoken like a true evil genius.....

It would have clashed with your ES avatar had it been changed anyway.....

I was going to mention that, too, but forgot with all the quoting, formatting, cutting, copying and pasting. I lurvs my avatar...
