Not that many people will notice, but today is the last day that the Little Orphan Annie comic strip will appear in the handful of newspapers that still carry it.

It was in the newspaper comics section I read back in the 80's..... but not one I read because I only read the ones that were actually funny....

Is Prince Valiant dead yet? That was a waste of space in the Sunday comics.....

He's still wasting 1/3 page in my Sunday comic section. I skip him and Rex Morgan, MD.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.................................

The Annie who is ripped is not me. I am not an orphan. I got adopted.

I didn't want anybody to be confused.

I feel bad for Miss Annie's friends, though.

missanniecamaro --

I knew it wasn't you.

That Annie is the person of a dog named Sandy. And you have never mentioned a Sandy.

If Orphan Annie was the person of a Lizbit, then I would have worried something awful.

Now, I wish My Boonie and My Pretty Lady would stop singing. They are hurting my ears.

And My Pretty Lady is dancing with a mop, singing something about hard knock life. I am afraid she is going to hit me by accident. She is a good dancer but not a good mop handler.

And of course the sun will come out tomorrow. They are very silly persons.

Your friend,
Miss Denise

Don't worry, Annie. And it's not like she had a Very Bad Day.

She's just not blogging about her life, anymore, is all.

When you have to wear Huggies before you pose for your next strip, it's time to quit!

Our newspaper never carried Annie, so I was never attached to it.

It's still carrying Prince Valiant, and I still faithfully read it. It's been updated quite a bit over the past decade or so. Maybe updated isn't the right word, maybe "modernized" is better, and I use the term loosely, because the modernization seems to follow the fantasy sense of a book first published in 1954, Lord of the Rings. It's now long on fantasy and short on "the Chronicles" of history.

Anyway, Valiant survives, and Annie is headed off to the jungles of Central America. For now.

Have they given Val a decent haircut, at least?

I wish they'd drop the Peanuts repeats and give us something I haven't already read 758 times...
