No- I'd never heard of it either.

And the only real reference I'm finding online is an NPR interview transcript.

I'm guessing it's not widely known, but since the question is really asking "What date's numbers resemble courduroy fabric?" it doesn't really matter.

The accent was enjoyable and he didn't come that close to time running out. (He'd have been covered by the "final answer in progress" loophole, anyway.)
