Way to go on a real tough stack!!
How did you know the answer to the question about "It's Raining Men."? I remember when that song came out-I figured you were going to use a lifeline on that one.
Those last 3 questions were tough-kind of like ToC metariel on J!.

Assuming that I had gotten past that last question, I would've Double Dipped on C and D here.
You did a great job, Drew! I commend you for having the stones to go for it at $100K.

Metariel? METARIEL????
That made me LOL and had me thinking of how we all got "Jipted" ten years ago.

Congrats on the great run and the $25K! It is fun transcribing a BB, as well as a third-tier contestant, and I got to enjoy both today.
There was one million-dollar primetime winner who annoyed Regis by calling out answers (like your "Hawk!") as Regis was reading the question.
Edit: I was thinking of Bernie Cullen, also a 5-time J! winner (the name had escaped me).

Good going, Drew. I know you would have rather come home with a larger check, but you were one of the better contestants we've seen this season, and you showed courage in going for the last Q. Enjoy your winnings!

Congratulations, Drew! The lifelines would have disappeared quickly for me, starting with that $25K question. (John Hodgman really knows his anti-Stalinist poets? I'm impressed.) I also had a hunch that Michelangelo was the most familiar distractor and that the vote for Raphael was a significant second place spike. I salute you for taking the Double Dip gamble!

If this question is referring to the
Stalin Epigram, it appears that the moustache only gets a passing mention in one line of the sixteen-line poem.

I gotta hand it to you, Drew, that was a gutsy move. Sorry it didn't work out. elwing gave me the same advice and I did the same thing (although in my case it was using the 50/50 and then guessing wrong). I agree that for that value "Michaelangelo" was too obvious, and given the distribution of the audience's choices my assumption was that they chose solely on their familiarity with the names. It was a great run, but I'm sad that we didn't get to see the "Drew dance".

Sure, he sent more people to the Gulag (or worse) than any of the other choices, but I wouldn't read that poem and say that he'd been offended at the insult to his facial hair! I think this was another case of the question writers adding extra, unnecessary fluff to a question.

I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to correct her.
No, the real check doesn't come in the mail because there is no million dollar check in the current rules, Meredith! There's only a $250,000 check and a series of annuity payments!

Yeah, he was probably offended by the entire poem.
But that's the key to these questions...figuring out what it's really asking.
And what it was really asking is...who arrested and exiled Russian poet Osip Mandelstam?
But it's boring to ask the question that way!

Congratulations on a great job, Drew! This time of year I can only very occasionally lurk so I wasn't sure if you were a BB or not. So I checked specifically today just to see because you played just like a great BB would play. And darned if I wasn't right!
Enjoy your money and hope you had a great time on the show.

Congrats on your win. You were very gutsy to go for the question. I didn't have the guts to answer my $100,000 question even though I was 75% sure I knew the answer and even said the answer before Meredith did. I still regret my lack of fortitude to this day, but for me $50,000 was so much money that I couldn't risk it.

25K: I knew he was old enough not to have been dissing Brezhnev. Beyond that who knows. I don't know how much faith I'd have in ATE; this expert, it turns out, really was one in this case.
I'd ATE to buy time, & if I didn't have this most excellent expert Drew got, I'd double dip. Stalin would have been one of the dips.
100K: I was pretty sure it was Michaelangelo, but "pretty sure" is not enough for 100K. If I have the double dip, use it of course.
In the real world, how many experts except this one would have known the 25K? So double dip is gone.
ATA because its still there.
Would an ATA as in agreement as Drew's have pushed me over the line into going for it?
I like to imagine it could. But I will never know.
