I got my copy of the first season in the mail from Amazon yesterday. It has a sticker on it that the second season begins March 30. So I've got 2 1/2 months to get through it and decide whether I want to keep movie channels or not.
Showtime really does their packaging on the cheap in comparison to HBO. Of course, the price was a lot better as well, although I haven't looked to see how many episodes are contained in the set.

You'll have to let us know how you like the Tudors. Cable is very expensive here too...and there is usually only crap on.
We only keep HBO for Bill Maher (begins tomorrow evening). We like Big Love, and fwh really likes Larry David.
Each evening when we scan thru all the channels, we always say, "Why do we have cable?"

I haven't had any pay channels for years, I cancelled HBO when Oz was over and Showtime when Dead Like Me was cancelled. But I got the whole works on a special deal from Directv a few months ago. Now that offer has expired and I'm trying to decide what (if anything) to keep.
I've like 1075906033 HBO Channels and nearly as many Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, etc. channels and all I ever see when I go through the channel guide are movies from 10-20 years ago!
I really like Dexter so, if I like the Tudors, I might keep the Showtime. I haven't seen anything on any of the others. I watch Black Starz a lot because every third movie they show is Fallen, which is one of my all time favourites (even though I don't like Denzel Washington, go figure). Michael Baden has a new Autopsy show on HBO, but I can get plenty of that elsewhere. They followed that up with something called "Cathouse: the Musical". Oh yay, a musical! Oh, wow, not so much a musical. Ha!
My needs are pretty simple, as long as I have Vh1 and Altitude Sports Network, I'm good.
Now nobody go spoiling the Tudors for me, I want to see how it ends for Henry and Anne Boleyn! Call me a hopeless romantic, but I think those two crazy kids just might make it. They're the Gina and Tommy of the 16th century.

Seeing how I'm related to all of them and three of Henry's wives, I'll have to buy and watch that sometime.

I ordered Showtime specifically for the Tudors and never cancelled it. I love the show and we sometimes find movies that we like on Showtime, so it's worth it.
