The Color Purple. I'm a huge fan of the book, but I really thought this bloodless, soulless movie won exactly as many Oscars as it deserved. As to the NAACP, I don't remember any of that, but when the acting, by actors who've all often been better, is uniformly off in the same way, I blame the director, not the actors.
To TiV, I do think looking at a list of Spielberg movies before answering is a no-no. My QOD is styled after Jeopardy, which is all about instant recall. I say back in the rules (which I realize people often don't read) that I want people to answer each question within seconds of reading it or pass, as opposed to the type of game where it's fine to just leave it open all day long until the answers come to you (which is what I usually do when I do well at LS). But I interpreted your full disclosure as "if what I did is permissible, here's my guess", which is different from cheating, so I scored it as if you didn't answer the question, rather than as if you got it wrong.
