With five games to go, there's a FOUR way tie for second place! The Western Conference is crazy.....
Think of the Western Conference as the National League, not a single division. Divisions don't mean crap in basketball anymore except for tiebreakers. All it means to us folk up here in the Great Northwest is another championship t-shirt......littlebeast13 wrote:FannyHeartsNene wrote:Meanwhile, in REAL sports news........

Now if this were to happen in Our National Pastime, that would be a really thrilling finish to watch, since only one of those teams would be advancing to the playoffs, and the other three would be working on their golf games in a few weeks. But there are some professional sports leagues I hear which allow as many as 16 teams to play in the postseason......
I believe Sprots said it best...... good grief!

The NHL used to be the league where the regular season didn't matter because only like four teams didn't make the playoffs. But I haven't paid attention to hockey for so long I don't know if that's still true or not....

NBA has six 5 team divisions. Just like the NHL.littlebeast13 wrote:
Still doesn't excuse the NBA for sending 16 teams to the playoffs. I believe they are the only major sports league still clinging to the antiquated 4 division format. Why they don't split up into six 5 team divisions is beyond me, but then again, so is the fact that they tie the starts of their games to the endings of earlier games.....
