Jeff thinks if may be the Magna Carta since Dunlap is a French name. He doesn’t think it is the Mayflower Compact or King James Bible. His first thought was the Constitution, but it’s not a choice, so he’s really not sure at this point.

Greg says that he would have to agree with Jeff. He is leaning toward the Magna Carta. He then says that he can’t eliminate any of them with certainty, but if Jeff feels like Magna Carta, then he feels like Magna Carta.

Greg: Let’s say we eliminate the Mayflower Compact. Although, Dunlap Broadside. Hmm.

Jeff: Yeah. I mean that just doesn’t sound like a .. But now that I think about it, it does seem like it could kind of be a puritan name. So, I don’t know.

OK, so the Expert appears not to know too much about history.

The Magna Carta was signed in 1215-WAY before printing presses were even INVENTED. I elimininated that one right away. I don't remember if the Pilgrims hauled a printing press across the Atlantic (I doubt it.)

I had it down to the Bible and the Declaration of Independence. I went with D figuring that the Bible might have even less origninal copies still in existence today.

So, if his first hunch was the Constitution, how did Jeff never get around to considering the Declaration in his discussion with Greg (who so helpfully went along with whatever Jeff was thinking)? Those would seem like a natural pair to get confused at first glance. And why didn't they consider what a broadside might be?

It's a little surprising that TPTB would consider him close enough to get a last minute call. Of course, now that contestants don't have to recruit a team of PAFs, it's easier to respond to that call.

That was in an article. 12 hours would mean he was called at 7 PM the night before!

I'm surprised that no one else has commented on this particular grumble-worthy sequence (which the clown of an "expert" agreed with). Did the contestant (and the "expert") really not know in what country the Magna Carta was signed?

And where does he get the idea that "Dunlap" is "a French name"? (In fact, the publisher of the eponymous Broadsides was from Ireland; but how does it sound French anyway?)

It doesn't matter what the origin of Dunlap is, they should have been focusing on what a "broadside" is.
