Nothing much changes in the TV world. Rodney Alcala, who is currently awaiting sentencing after being convicted of four women and a child in the late 1970's, was a 1978 contestant on The Dating Game ... and won. Fortunately for her, the woman who picked Alcala decided not to go out on a date with him. Apparently, screening of contestants wasn't any better in the 1970s than it is now, because Alcala had a previous conviction of child rape which didn't prevent him from appearing on the show. It also appears that Alcala may already have killed a couple of women before he appeared on the show.

The clip in the link contains Alcala's Dating Game appearance. FWIW, Bachelor #2, Jed Mills, who wasn't picked, has a resume of about 30 bit TV and film roles on IMDB.

I'm not sure if it's in this link or not, but they talked to a profiler who said that his being rejected by the girl on this show might have triggered his violent impulses. (Since there's some evidence he had already killed one or two women before he appeared on the show, I'm not too sure how accurate this analysis is).Buffacuse wrote:Imagine if he had lost...
