Early Exit Polling

#1 Post by DadofTwins » Mon Jan 07, 2008 10:41 am

indicates that Goose Gossage will be the only player inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer.

The announcement is tomorrow, but Keith Law of espn.com has a blog where he tracks published ballots.

As of yesterday morning, he had seen 113 ballots. Gossage was on 89% of them. Next were Jim Rice, Bert Blyleven, and Andre Dawson, each around the 65% mark.

75% is the threshold for induction.

There are 510 voters, so nothing is official yet, but it looks good for Gossage. If he makes it, he'll be the second member of the 1984 NL Champion Padres to get in.
We have enough youth. How about a fountain of smart?

Raines not getting in will be a big injustice. Rice not getting in will not.
