And for those of you with ceegar smoke in yer eyes:
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A U.S. congressman from North Carolina wants the $50 bill redrawn to feature the face of former President Ronald Reagan.
Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry wants Congress to require the U.S Treasury to replace former President Ulysses S. Grant on the bill. McHenry announced his bill Tuesday, and he has 13 Republican co-sponsors.

First Republicans wanted Reagan on the dime, and now on the $50 bill.
Republicans can talk a good game about not wasting taxpayers' money, but when it comes to preserving Ronald Reagan's legacy, they fall all over themselves to spend the money to do it. We can't afford to give Americans decent healthcare or a decent education, but dammit, we can afford to put our idol Ronald Reagan on our money!

How much would it cost? Really? We have to print the money anyway. I doubt the bill requires to expedite the destruction of existing Grants. It would be no different that the current updating of the circulating bills we are doing now.
O.K. Several thousand to get the artwork approved and new plates made. But that is about it. A lot cheaper than flying to Europe to lobby for the Olympics to be in Chicago.

Reagan should be on the $50 bill. He sure believed in spending them when he was in office.

I let those boys in North Carolina off easy last time, but if they keep disrespecting the General I might have to reconsider.

If Republicans can live with FDR on the dime, I can live with Ronald Reagan on the $50. (And, unfortunately, I would see a lot more of FDR than of RR.)
If you were going to replace anyone, Grant would be the guy. Fine general, but one of the worst Presidents in US history.
Of course, I'd rather preserve a cultural figure than another politician. My candidate would be Mark Twain with Walt Whitman second. You can't get more quintessentially American than these guys!

Billy is a Merry Man, and Uly is not really a General (but thanks for the historical info)

I must have missed the memo that said we all have to use our real names now....
And why does SSS always quote Matt Damon now instead of me....?

We don't have to use our real names?
No one ever tells me anything.

Hey, I only shoot people who are shooting at me.
Or are about to shoot at me.
Or are thinking about shooting at me.
Or deserve it.

If you use that reasoning (faulty though it is), Obama's picture should be on every coin and paper denomination of US Currency. And probably some of China's.

Ok, I get the $44 and maaaybe the $8 (potential 8 years of office) but why the $9?
Reminds me of a joke my dad told me as a kid.
Two counterfeiters were making bills and they accidentally made a bad run of $18 bills. One said to the other, "we wasted our paper on these stupid bills now what can we do with them?" The other replied, "I know this dumb little town up in the hills where we should be able to pass them off." They go to a bank in the town the next day and ask for change for their $18 bills. The teller sweetly replies,"Sure, do you want 2 $9s or 3 $6s?"
