Dang, I thought I just had to wager in this thread before I looked at the Monday question. Well, if I miss it, I'll be glad I was too late.

Yikes! I forgot to spoilerize! First time I didn't preview, too. Oh well, if you must DQ this, I understand, but I had to go back and add the spoiler for the greater good.
Spoiler
Jeopardy round - "The River"

In this round, I want the biggest, or main, river that goes through or right by the city in question. In at least one question, I know there is more than one right answer. You only have to give one (and as per J!, if you give a right answer, and then go on to give a wrong one, i have to score you as wrong).

$200 - Chicago

What is the Chicago?

$400 - Hartford (CT)

What is the Connecticut?

$600 - Dublin, Ireland

$800 - Portland, OR

This one's going to kill me. I know what I should say... and so I will, changing my answer to What is the Columbia?

$1000 - Timbuktu

What is the Niger?

Double Jeopardy Round - The Dreaded Before & After

$400 - "When in the course of human events" you have to go to Harry S Truman's hometown

What is the Declaration of Independence Missouri?

$800 - Buddy Holly Song about a Jason Robards nuclear holocaust movie

What is "That'll Be the Day After"?

$1200 - This Jack Barry game show met its demise holding a dead man's hand. Hope he beats the devil.

What is The Joker's Wild Bill Hickock? That can't be right. Wasn't it Billy the Kid who held the dead man's hand? I'll stick to it, though.

$1600 - Patsy Cline song that was named the Booker of Bookers

$2000 - Commander of Texas forces at the Alamo who lived on the houseboat "Busted Flush"

Chicago River. I'm not sure if the Des Plaines actually crosses into city limits, but then I did say in or near, so it's acceptable too. I'd have also taken Calumet.

$400 - Hartford (CT)
Connecticut. I looked up the Mystic for the person who guessed that, thinking of the beach town, and it turns out it's entirely within Massachusetts, and joins the Charles in Boston Harbor. Then I remembered that I lived for a year within a couple blocks of the Mystic and was embarrassed that I didn't remember that. I think maybe I was thinking of the Housatonic.

$600 - Dublin, Ireland
Liffey. Sorry, the Shannon runs basically North-South down the middle of the island, and doesn't come especially near Dublin.

$800 - Portland, OR
Willamette or Columbia. Going by the spelling-pronunciation rule, I had to ding at least one person for saying "Williamette"

$1000 - Timbuktu
Niger (hopefully this board won't censor that)

Double Jeopardy Round - The Dreaded Before & After

$400 - "When in the course of human events" you have to go to Harry S Truman's hometown
Declaration of Indepence, Missouri

$800 - Buddy Holly Song about a Jason Robards nuclear holocaust movie
That'll Be The Day After. Sorry, but "The Day After Tomorrow" is a totally different movie.

$1200 - This Jack Barry game show met its demise holding a dead man's hand. Hope he beats the devil.
Joker's Wild Bill Hickok. Sorry again to the person who said "Hitchcock"

$1600 - Patsy Cline song that was named the Booker of Bookers
Walkin' After Midnight's Children

$2000 - Commander of Texas forces at the Alamo who lived on the houseboat "Busted Flush"
Colonel William Travis McGee

Alas, another error in my favor. My response to the $2000 clue was incorrect. My score for the day should be $1000, not $5000. Damn it. --Bob

Yay, I got 3/6 in one of my worst categories and none of it was because of a geography class! I knew two of them because I'm Irish and the third because I lived one block north of a street named for it. I said south before, but I'm directionally challenged. I lived north of Willamette and south of Cache la Poudre. (If I was on the show, I'd pronounce it correctly, not the way we do here.)

Which reinforces (to me, at least) that it's what you learn in life, not in school.

True dat. I have corrected it, but on the 1/7 scores thread, not "today's"
