I thought Angelo was a cool name, but John-Angelo is even cooler.

Congrats!

Love,
Karen told me his new name a few weeks ago -- but hey, Mira was "Elijah" until she was born (bad ultrasound read, twice!) & then "Jasmine Champayne" for about 10 minutes after (her Dad liked that name; Megan vetoed it!)

OK -- for some reason if I post pix from the cell phone site, they stay up for a while & then vanish. Home now & these should stay put:

Mom & son (& Daddy) are doing fine. Thanks for all the warm wishes!

Sweet baby! I'm glad everything went well.

Our little one will be home tomorrow.

Good looking kid, although he is a bit small (the Wonder Child was 11 lbs 4 oz, tiny Andrew was 10 lbs 5 oz, and Baby Nicholas was 11 lbs 7 oz). But small babies are OK, too.

LOL -- and their Mom, if I remember correctly, was not a very big lady, right? Was she diabetic? Karen isn't "little" -- she's very curvy & I guess the expression is "built like a brick s**thouse" -- but she's short! In a family of mostly tall women (me, my Mom, my sisters, & Leah) -- she & Megan, at 5'3" & 5'2" respectively, are a couple of shorties! Johnny is tall (6 feet) & little John-Angelo is 22" long.

One of the reasons they did the induction today at 8 days past due, instead of waiting another week, is that they thought he might be getting a little too big in there!

When I had Megan -- my first, smallest & earliest, at 37 weeks & 6 lb 1 oz, there was another Mom who had a 12 lb 11 oz girl! And the hospital put them next to each other in the nursery!!! Now, that Mom was diabetic, & she & her husband were both good-sized people.

I've been reading up on this stuff lately, and it seems very common for OB's to induce for big babies...or for anything, for that matter. Induction gives them something closer to a concrete timeline and something to manage, I suppose. But lots of folks out there think it is rarely necessary to induce for size. The more I hear about the whole induction process...harder labors, etc, the happier I am to be going with my crunchy midwives at a free standing birth center! And lucky for me they just pushed my due date back by 11 days...more time to not be 'overdue'. :D
