I, like many others, didn't expect much to come from this week. But when I shut my mouth and actually wait once in a while, good things can happen! Surely I didn't care about the Housewives content but this was still an enjoyable episode. Anytime $50,000+ is won, it's gotta be pretty good.

Watching a once prestigious show sink to the level of "Real Housewives" is about as "enjoyable" as watching Hugh Grant in the back seat consorting with Divine Brown. Maybe Meredith will go on the new Tonight Show and Jay will ask her, "What were you thinking?" It worked great for Hugh.

Technically, the Ferber method is not a method to teach a child to sleep through the night.

It is a method to teach a child to put themselves to sleep at bedtime and then during the night when he/she wakes up.

Here are a couple articles/blog entries about Nina's appearance. They're fascinated byt eh Edith Ronne question!

http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.actio ... Groupspace
Edith "Jackie" Ronne was an American Antarctica explorer. Ronne was the first woman ever to be a working member of an Antarctic expedition. Edith Ronne was born October 14, 1919 and she died last year on June 14, 2009.

Ronne served as the Antarctic expedition's recorder & historian. She wrote press releases for the North American Newspaper Alliance. Edith Ronne kept a daily log of each of the expedition's accomplishments.
She died last summer? I guess that obituary brought her to the question writer's attention.

http://news.lalate.com/2010/02/22/who-is-edith-ronne/
Nina Weiss, of Schnecksville, was up to $100,000 today with the help of a guest star host from Bravo’s “Real Housewives”. But then came the Edith Ronne question.

Only problem - Nina had no lifelines. With no help, Weiss went home with $50,000.
No lifelines? Wasn't Caroline a free "Ask the Real Housewife" lifeline on every question? :P

This final article never even mentions Nina, but goes on about the chit-chat Meredith had with Caroline.

http://insidetv.aol.com/2010/02/22/n-j- ... ily-oprah/
On Monday's show, host Meredith Vieira asked 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' wife Caroline Manzo about her beef with Danielle Staub. "
Hey, look, TPTB, Caroline does have a last name! :P

Yep, that's it for me. I would've saved my DD and Charlied out.

And that's too bad because I nailed every question afterward.
Andy Cohen has a sort of talk show on Bravo where they sometimes discuss what happens on Bravo's various reality shows. That means that even if the Housewife sitting next to the contestant didn't know one of the show-related questions, Andy probably would. Nelly, if you by some stretch of the imagination had been on this show, you wouldn't have had to use a lifeline on any of these questions because the Housewife knew all of them.
$100K In 1947, Edith Ronne became the first American woman to do what?
A. Set foot in Antarctica
B. Ride a horse in the Kentucky Derby
C. Head a major corporation
D. Swim the English Channel
I actually would have gotten this one, by process of elimination. I remember what a big deal it was for any professional jockey to be female in the 70s, so there's no way it could have happened in the Kentucky Derby in the 40s; "Heading a major corporation" is just too vague to be the right answer; and I recently learned from a review of a Gertrude Ederle biography that Ederle was American, so D can't be right.

plasticene wrote:Nelly, if you by some stretch of the imagination had been on this show, you wouldn't have had to use a lifeline on any of these questions because the Housewife knew all of them.
I was thinking about that. At least in this stack, the ordinary questions were quite reasonable. As long as Caroline (or whatever Housewife was my partner) didn't get stumped by some question from one of the other geographical series, all of these theme questions would be free rides and I could save my lifelines for the upper tier. Not that saying "I don't have a clue, so it's up to you, Caroline" time after time in the first tier would be a comfortable way to play the game.

Of course, since TPTB were specifically looking for Real Housewives uber-fans for this week, getting selected on the basis of "I wouldn't recognize these cast members if they were having a cat fight right in front of me" might be a bit of a long shot.

Except for the stoopid show related questions it was another pretty soft stack of question up to 25K and even the 50K is one trivia enthusiasts might have heard before.
