QOD 1/5 Scores, Answers, Etc

#1 Post by ToLiveIsToFly » Sat Jan 05, 2008 2:47 pm

Sorry for the late posting. Baby stuff.

Anyway, I think I wrote in the rules that all games would be open until midnight the following day, or when I got around to scoring them and posting the answers, whichever comes last. Turns out I meant to say that Saturday's game is open 'til midnight Monday, so you've got more time than I may have implied. On the other hand, I guess the "or I get around to" part covers this.

Anyway,

Jeopardy Round - "Tunnel of Love"

$200 - She asked "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways"

$400 - According to a 1950s-1960s TV series title, he had "Many Loves"

$600 - In this 1963 movie starring Steve McQueen and James Garner, a lot of effort went into building tunnels

$800 - According to a 1980 J. Geils Band song, "Love" does this

$1000 - Blind Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman was convicted in 1995 of conspiring to destroy these two tunnels

Double Jeopardy Round - "Cub"s

$400 - Art form mainly developed by Picasso.

$800 - Goliath was four of these plus a span tall.

$1200 - If you want to someday outdo Woodward and Bernstein, you might have to start out as one of these.

$1600 - This might help hatch your eggs.

$2000 - According to legend, this evil spirit visits women as they sleep.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

REGARDING MY FJ WAGER:
Spoiler
I'm a little confused about how this works. I think I wagered 4000 a few days ago, not knowing how much I'd have to bet. If I can amend that, I'll just bet half of whatever my score is at the time of the FJ question.
