I confess. I had to google the name. That show competes for my attention with The Dog Whisperer and occasional wonderful movies that I've inexplicably never seen -- and loses.

Apparently, I will have to monitor your FNL viewing.

Jeff watches the show.

Usually we watch it together, but tonight I watched it with the girls.

I thought we were talking about a 49ers running back.

I'm sure many of the viewers are most interested in the cheerleading routines.

Choreography.
Lifts.
Herkies.
Important stuff like that.

I hate to break the bad news, but that dude ain't eligible to play high school football in Texas. He's almost 27 years old, fer Chrissakes!
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2018237/
I thought some of those students were looking a little long in the tooth, but that's ridiculous!
According to Texas UIL standards, students are eligible to represent their school in interscholastic activities if they: (1) are not 19 years of age or older on or before Sept. 1 of the current scholastic year (See 504 handicapped exception.)
I've been meaning to catch an episode of FNL ever since it came on, and tonight was the night, since it happened to come on right after 1 vs. 100. My neighborhood is frequently taken over by film crews for the show, and they sometimes shoot scenes at Fran's Hamburgers on Congress Avenue, where I eat about once or twice a week. So tonight I was mainly watching for familiar local landmarks, but didn't recognize many exterior shots.

I think they have shut down production until the WGA strike is over, but some of the cast still hangs around town.

OK, so 10% of men voluntarily watch this show.

That one vein is particularly disturbing.

I will say - I love that show.

I love the relationship between the Taylors. I love how he doesn't want to 'be sensitive' and yet seems to end up being so. I love that they fight and yell and get it all out in the open.

I love the relationship between Riggins, Lyla and Street. Their friendship is deeper than any of the mistakes they have made.

I've liked Kyle Chandler since the old "Homefront" days.

Me too. He's the reason why I started watching "Friday Night Lights."

I've seen every episode of the show although its current slot of Fridays at 9 turns the show into Saturday morning lights. The writing and acting are superb, with talent jumping off the screen.

The show can be viewed as a teen soap with eye candy but the situations and interactions with the characters have a wider scope.

Somewhere I read before last night there were six episodes in the can. So even with the strike it's good to know five more new shows can air.

Tim Riggins was back, but at the end he was also out. I wasn't sure if the previews showing him sleeping at school were upcoming or if that was an old clip from his previous getaway spot? Even better the previews showed upcoming football action. The visiting coach looked like the ghost of Woody Hayes in one scene and I can't wait to see that play next week.

I don't get the casting on this show. According to IMDB, several of the "high school students" on FNL are played by actors in their mid-20's. I could understand if this show had been on the air for ten years and the high schoolers have gradually hit their late-20's, but why would the producers start out with actors who are already much too old for their roles. And what happens if the show catches on and lasts ten more years?

20somethings have often played teenagers. They have more experience as workers, no one has to get permission for them to miss school, and they are less trouble to work with.

Judy Garland had to strap herself down every day to play 13-year-old Dorothy. It's been around a long time.

Right, and I don't think many "Happy Days" viewers were buying The Fonz as a 40 year-old teenager either, but I thought "Friday Night Lights" was striving for a little more realism than that.
