For those who care to read:

It is already a bit of a blur, but a recap of the Family1111 trip to Disney/Universal/Orlando for those who care to read.

We traveled separately from Daughter1111 who went with the band arrangements. That was an expensive way to do it so we took alternate accommodations. I was a bit nervous about traveling on a different plane and even made out my will and all (something that should have been done before, but I digress). D1111 left early in the morning and we went later in case there were any problems. Did the reverse on the return and got home before she did. In general we followed the band’s itinerary for the which park to go to when.

Husband1111 found a house in the Kissimee area that had 3 bedrooms and a heated (small) pool. Cheaper than the hotel the band stayed at and I could put together breakfast in the morning. Funny how little things make a difference. They didn’t have a sponge in the kitchen, or any thing to wipe up with. Ended up using a hand towel. No salt and pepper shakers. Only one tablet for the dishwasher. Little things that make you feel like they are doing things on the cheap. But overall, much nicer than staying in a hotel. Son1111 swam everyday.

Wow--a short-term stay at a house that was cheaper than a hotel room?

I'm not surprised they skimp on the little things; they're probably afraid of guests taking those home, like hotel soaps and shampoo bottles.

Timeshares are like that as well. Overtime, supplying the 'extras' gets expensive. I also discovered how few people use the kitchen. They eat out all meals - even in timeshares.
