At only 24 years old, the eruption of Mount St. Helen's was many years before her time. But that was still a painful one to spend a lifeline on...

But I give her credit for having the guts to play the odds and risk using the Double Dip when she clearly had no idea of the answer.

On September 30th, 2009, the Empire State Building was lit in red and yellow lights to mark the 60th anniversary of what country's government?
A: Norway B: China

This vexes me. China is the only one of the four countries that established its current government in 1949, and that should have been all that the contestant would have needed. And China going Commie in 1949 is such a big thing that she should have known it-- like Russia going Commie in 1917, or Germany going Nazi in 1933, or the US going whupass on Great Britain in 1776, or France going whupass on the monarchy in 1789. There are some years that should stick out.

And colors. France is and has been red-white-blue (or blue-white under the monarchy), Japan is red-white, Norway may be a bit less prominent (red-white-blue) but still no one should have any reason to thing that they would use red-yellow, and certainly no reason to think that their government came into being in 1949, and even more certainly no reason to think that the Empire State Building would be commemmorating Norway (nice little country, but outside of lutefisk, who cares?) Apart from China's flag being red-yellow, whenever you see them prancing around with 'colors,' they are alway red and yellow (good thing for them that they do not have political correctness issues, otherwise, the 'yellow peril' thing would probably cause them to drop the yellow).

MULTIPLE clues that all point to the correct answer, yet she had no idea at all. Is this hotseatitis? Time pressure because of TDC? Or just being oblivious to what goes on in the world?

She's probably one of those youngsters who have no idea what happened before they were born. She might not even have been able to calculate the year. However as she's in fashion marketing, she should have been able to figure it out from the colors.

Problem with that theory is she needed help to know that a turntable is associated with a DJ.

Guess she likes other types of music. She was born after turntables were otherwise obsolete.

She walked in for an audition for "Are You Smarter Than A Preschooler", & actually flunked that test, but was soooooooooooooooooooo cy-uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute that they put her on BAM instead.

What's really sad is seeing a lot smarter contestants flame out all around her this week, some leaving with nada, because of the clock, or maybe in some cases their own hubris. But at least they had a right to some hubris because of actually being able to answer some questions on their own.

On the other hand, you could say she was smart enough to know she wasn't smart enough, so just asked away, & when there were no lifelines left walked with 10K.

Mt. St. Helens erupted exactly 5 days after the tornado blew through here. EZ for me.

How did she even pass the test? Or was it her perky TV personality that got her on the show? Ugh either way.

Has anyone ever used the term "spag bol"???

I mean it was easy enough to figure out, but I've never heard it.

The only "slang" I've ever heard for "spaghetti bolognese" is "pasta with meat sauce"...and that usually is just the difference between a traditional Italian place and a chain Italian place, or diner, or something like that.

But I do like this definition for "spag bol" on urban dictionary: "Spaghetti bolognaise. And you're in idiot if you think otherwise."

I think it is more of a UK term. Brit soccer fans definitely use it. I originally thought the "bol" was a corruption of "bowl" but soon discovered it was short for "bolognaise" or "bolognese".

Especially since she came back with the ever-more-grating "That's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure" response.
