Lyrically Speaking - 1/3/08
Posted: Thu Jan 03, 2008 6:36 am
by littlebeast13
It's Theme Thursday, which means the titles of today's songs all fit into some central theme. That theme, BTW, happens to be the theme of the very first Lyrically Speaking Game I ever posted on October 1, 2002. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out if you know anything at all about me....
One point for the title, one point for the artist, 3 points for identifying the theme... and as a bonus, 1 point for identifying which of these lyrics I used as my very first LS clue in that first game a little over 5 years ago....
1. Twenty-five years ago, they spoke out and they broke out
Of depression and opression and together they toked
And they folked out with guitars around a bon fire
Just singin' and clappin', man what the hell happened
2. We All Know That People Are The Same Where Ever We Go
There Is Good And Bad In Ev'ryone
3. Those one track minds
That took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye
You shouldn't have to jump for joy
4. Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'til it's my turn
I'm not the kind of girl
Who gives up just like that
Oh, no
5. Cause the loving ain't the same
And you keep on playing games
Like you know I'm here to stay
6. If I were the king of the world
Tell you what I'd do
I'd throw away the cars and the bars and the war
Make sweet love to you
7. I bought a '30 Ford wagon
And we call it a woodie
8. When she woke up late in the morning
Light and the day had just begun
She opened up her eyes and thought
O' what a morning
9. Nothing can catch her
Nothing can touch my ____
10. Back then long time ago when grass was green
Woke up in a daze
Arrived like stangers in the night
11. Girl we can't,
Change the places where we were born.
Before you say,
That you want me.
I want you to think,
What your family would say
12. You seem so far away though you are standing near
You made me feel alive, but something died I fear
I really tried to make it out
I wish I understood
What happened to our love, it used to be so good

Drat. I can actually hear this snippet of the song, but my mind won't replay the title phrase. If it's even part of the lyrics...

Dammit! That's what came to my mind and I discarded it because
I figured I was just thinking that because you've got a thing for 13. So did that stem from the job or was it just serendipity? And do I get points for at least paying enough attention to your posts that I knew you had mentioned the department number? Ha!

I didn't inherit Department 13 until March 2001, which was 10 months after I registered littlebeast13.... the 13 is for my birthday, which like most people who were born on the 13th who thinks our number gets a bad rap, I have a fondness for it.
The only time I ever, EVER remember mentioning that Chemicals (Which is what we call the department at work) is D-13 was in a post I made on my birthday in Phoenix in July 2001 in the middle of the Morlock Invasion (That's also how I found out I share a birthday with HF_Jai). I did make mention of Department 15 in one of your QoD's... that would be small appliances, the home of George Foreman grills. I think that's what you're thinking of....

Ha! You're right, it was in my QOD. So, I would have gotten the answer right for the wrong reason, since I obviously WAS thinking Department 13 because of your prediliction.
I had a girlfriend whose birthday was July 13 (I suppose it still is, ha!). She had the opposite feeling about 13, though. Hated it. I personally love my birthday because it's the longest odds in a quinela combination at the dogtrack.
