If you have to see Alvin and The Chipmunks, take a 6-year-old with an infectious laugh and constant giggle. About half of the laughs I got were listening to Molly laugh at the movie.

my teenage son sat through it at the request of his new girlfriend. Ah, what we do for young love, eh?

We will never see that movie. I feel very lucky my kids don't want to see it.

I almost saw the Chipmunk movie.
I took my nieces and nephews (aged 12 to 16) out to a movie last Saturday afternoon. I told them they could pick the movie. Chipmunks were leading 3 to 2 for a while but in the end I did some politicking and National Treasure carried the day.
A good time was had by all.

In my own defense, Annie's birthday was on New Year's Eve. Her party consisted of a movie, and then dinner at CiCi's Pizza buffet, so the movie was her choice. She invited 3 friends, so there were 5 girls, ages 6-8. They enjoyed the movie thoroughly. Annie is working on her chipmunk voice, and getting pretty good at it, even though I am her father, and have no prejudices in my child's talent.
If I ever do a stand-up act, I will have Molly in the audience. Her laugh is truly infectious.

Sounds like a preview of the Iowa caucus.

It works for 8-year-olds as well. I don't think I've ever heard The Little Guy laugh so hard. --Bob

We did go see Alvin and the Chipmunks, and it was OK. My two boys laughed, but not nearly as much as they have done in the past.
I think the best time we had at the movies was in Ratatouille, when my four-year-old nearly fell out of his chair laughing at the animated short and at certain parts of Ratatouille. That was worth the price of admission.
