Lyrically Speaking - 1/1/08

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Jan 01, 2008 6:39 am

Welcome to 2008... whenever y'all eventually get here....

It's time for Tuesday Wordplay, which means that each of the 12 song titles below will have a word in common.

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. And where do we go from here?
Which is the way that's clear

2. Well, we're having a ball just 'a bopping on the big dance floor
Well, there's a real square cat, he looks a 1974

3. Rise up! Gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up, let's go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke

4. How about a pair of pink sidewinders
And a bright orange pair of pants?
You could really be a Beau Brummel baby
If you just give it half a chance.

5. Ever since our voyage of love began
your touch has thrilled me like the rush of the wind
and your arms have held me safe from a rolling sea
there's always been a quiet place to harbor you and me

6. When I was grown to be a man
And the Devil would call my name
I'd say "now who do . . .
Who do you think you're fooling?"

7. I was eighteen
Didn't have a care
Working for peanuts
Not a dime to spare

8. Turn it down you say
Well all I got to say to you is time and time again I say
No! No, no, no, no, no, no

9. And when they're really wailing
Michelle and Cass are sailin'.
Hey! they really nail me to the wall

10. If I had my way
I'd shuffle off to Buffalo
Sit by the lake
And watch the world go by

11. The king called up his jet fighters
He said you better earn your pay

12. You can't depend on your teacher
You can't depend on your preacher
You can't depend on politicians
You can't depend on superstitions

Rock of Ages - Def Leppard

4. How about a pair of pink sidewinders
And a bright orange pair of pants?
You could really be a Beau Brummel baby
If you just give it half a chance.
It's Still Rock & Roll To Me - Billy Joel

5. Ever since our voyage of love began
your touch has thrilled me like the rush of the wind
and your arms have held me safe from a rolling sea
there's always been a quiet place to harbor you and me
Rock the Boat - Hues Corporation

6. When I was grown to be a man
And the Devil would call my name
I'd say "now who do . . .
Who do you think you're fooling?"
Loves Me Like A Rock - Paul Simon

7. I was eighteen
Didn't have a care
Working for peanuts
Not a dime to spare
Like A Rock - Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

8. Turn it down you say
Well all I got to say to you is time and time again I say
No! No, no, no, no, no, no
I Wanna Rock - Twisted Sister (I get real annoyed when I hear Twisted Sister get called a one-hit wonder. This song may have inexplicably not charted, but the video is better and I believe more iconic than the one for We're Not Gonna Take It... and anyone who grew up in the MTV generation is familiar with this song....)

9. And when they're really wailing
Michelle and Cass are sailin'.
Hey! they really nail me to the wall
I Dig Rock & Roll Music - Peter, Paul & Mary

10. If I had my way
I'd shuffle off to Buffalo
Sit by the lake
And watch the world go by
Rock & Roll Girls - John Fogerty

11. The king called up his jet fighters
He said you better earn your pay
Rock the Casbah - The Clash (A pair of songs that popped up in TiV's LS after I had already written this game)

12. You can't depend on your teacher
You can't depend on your preacher
You can't depend on politicians
You can't depend on superstitions
Love Is Like A Rock - Donnie Iris
