I made it home safely, but I was only 1 1/2 away. However, my 16 year old granddaughter is currently in the ER with severe stomach pains. She's been there since 9:30PM tonight. She is in a "ER" room, but still hasn't been seen by a doctor.
I went by to check on her before coming home and will await the phone call to tell me what's up.
A happy and safe new year to everyone!

Yikes! What a crummy way to start the year out. Good thoughts and prayers are headed to your granddaughter.

may everything be OK, Kay.
I've worked enough 31-12 heading to 01-01 to know that things can get backlogged.
The RN's can usually intuit between absolutely emergent and merely important and awful.

Yikes.
A bud went in to the E.R. with pain like that one time. After a while they couldn't find anything wrong, and asked had he tried any Gas-X.
Now he does try it first, before thinking it's angina.
Drop us a note and let us know the news. She is in the best place to be.

Well, I'm finally up this morning. The Auburn/Clemson game was replayed on ESPN starting at 2AM, so since I was up. I watched most of it having missed it the first time around. Maybe there is hope for Auburn next year with a half way decent quarterback. The freshman QB that scored the winning TD was named the player of the game.
Thanks the good wishes. Payton is 16 and when a 16 year old decides they are too sick to go to a New Year's party with her friends, you know to worry.
The ER was packed. She was running a low grade temp and had stomach pains so severe she was crying and doubled over in pain. The doctor didn't come in to see her until about 1AM. They didn't take a blood count, no x-rays, nothing. Just gave her pain medication, sent her home and said if happens again to go see her personal physician.
Haven't heard from them this morning, so I guess she did all right last night.
Editing to add I didn't post while I was up half the night as my laptop decided to quit on me. I'm pretty sure I need a new battery. Not sure if they sell them around here (Sony Viao), so it may be a few days before I get another one. I was too lazy to get up and come to the desktop computer where I am now. Those laptops will spoil you for sure.

You were right to worry. I came home from my summer job about 8 p.m. one night about a million years ago to find a wonderful broiled chicken dinner on the table and nobody home to eat it. The note said the rest of the family was over at the hospital where my 18-year-old little brother was having his appendix out. He also had left a party early the night before.
I'm glad all is well with your youngun.

Happy New Year, Everybody!!
One of my resolutions is to round up some of my old aliases so I'll be ready for the parade this year.
This alias reminds everyone to be 100% faithful with those health checks. That includes buckling up every time you drive or ride in a car and following T-Bone's family's example -- designating a driver every time if your party plans include alcohol.

Happy New Year, everyone!
Kay, I hope your granddaughter is okay. I also hope you just left out some details from that story--such as that her pain had passed before she was released--and that the doctors weren't just neglectfully rushing her out the door on a busy night.

I had to order a battery for my laptop, so I'm still dealing with the desktop, which really limits my computer time.
Thanks for the well wishes. Payton was sick yesterday mostly throwing up. She hasn't eaten for a couple of days, but we are keeping her on Gatorade and ginger ale. If she doesn't seem better today, we'll take her in to her doctor. Maybe it's just a virus and will run it's course.
