I wonder if the daughter was the PAF in waiting since these contestants likely had PAFs lined up and then got calls or emails that the PAF is gone. TPTB gets to show cute daughter face time and also saves a $20K+ payout that would have resulted from a PAF call to the daughter, who apparently did not need Google. A win-win for TPTB as a result. Then again the DD probably should have been used given the practical elimination of two choices.

Exactly the reason why PAF is already sorely missed.

I watch Conan only on nights that I don't have to get up early the next morning to work... but this factoid managed to escape my photographic memory. ATA first. If they don't know, I'll PAF. Oh, s**t! I can't! I'm f**ked! But seriously, I would've Double Dipped on Neon and Taurus since they seem to me to be the most unhip of the four cars presented.

OK. Being a car enthusiast, I know that the Dodge Neon was produced from 1995 - 2005. Therefore, it's out immediately.

The Chevy Malibu sedan was resurrected in 1997, and was not being produced in 1992. So it, too, is out.

The Taurus and the Camry were both around in 1992, although I don't know about which Conan speaks. Were I on the show, I'd double dip between Taurus and Camry (if I had the lifeline).

I'm such a car nerd ...

Okay! Colette here. Megan got me on "bored"!

And hey! DadofTwins is here too! Good to "see" you again! (How old are your twinkies now? Mine just turned 13!) Are you trying to get on this show now, too? :)

Alright, let's see if I can answer some of the questions/ respond to some comments:

RE: Process of elimination for Classic Lit:
I had read Oz and Pan and some of Alice and didn't remember anything like that-- I figured Brob(etc) was the opposite of Lilliputian. So I don't know if that is exactly p.o.e., but that's what I said in my nervous state! :)

Re; They didn't make a Dodge Neon
Agh! You're the first to tell me this! At least KC was right about the Malibu -- too bad she didn't know about the Neon, too.

But in general it's so unfortunate that the ticking clock made me want to just answer quickly -- my game plan was to go for it, use *all* my lifelines, and if I didn't know the answer, pick the one with a personal "connection." I have owned nothing but Fords my whole life! So with the DD, I *would* have picked it... oh well...

And actually Julia did not know the answer, but she felt that Neon was a "canard" -- her boyfriend knew it (as well as my kids' orthodontist!) but no one else i know has known it. My biggest fear was getting a "college boy" Q -- altho I figured it would be about Adam Sandler or something...

So... should I post more about my experience on this thread or elsewhere?

Hey Colette welcome abored!

Good to see another local. I am in Laurel, MD but my wife has family in Fredricksburg and we tend to go there for Thanksgiving.

You should probably start a new thread and introduce yourself and give us a trip report. I taped on October 16th and am itching to give mine before I forget more details (too lazy to write it down.)

If your comments are directly related to your question stack, this transcript thread is a logical place for it. If you're writing a more extensive story about the whole experience, you probably ought to start a new thread. Some folks here have written reports are are nearly book-length! :)

Wow, more twin parents. Southnyack has two sets. Of course she is now a sporadic poster.
I'm looking forward to your story. And not all of wrote novellas about our experiences.

Here's an article about Colette. There's also a photo showing her and six of her seven children.
