My computer says that all times are "GMT - 5". That is EST for me, at least.

Mine is set up to -6 for Central, but Bored Time® has always been recognized as Pacific since until the TUB, that was the only choice one had for reckoning time on the Bored....

beast is a sneaky dude. He lies in the weeds and waits for the perfect time to post.
He neglected to mention that in probably 3 out of those 5 years when he got the first post, I posted within milliseconds of him.

I don't think I'll be around at 2 am this year. I have to drive to Oklahoma tomorrow for my Uncle's funeral.

That is true... probably on all accounts. My perfect record at snagging the first post of the year when I'm present to do so is something I'm proud of.
And with the next two NYE's falling on my weekend, I should get a chance to put my record on the line next time...
