I broke my VCR...

#1 Post by SportsFan68 » Thu Dec 27, 2007 12:54 pm

I broke my VCR a long while back doing transcripts -- the mechanism just couldn't take the constant rewinding. Forward is all I got.

So, I contributed to LB's pension fund and bought a combination VHS/DVD player yesterday. I'm outta here for now to see if I can figure out how to hook it up with the help of the directions. One thing, at least -- they were either written or carefully edited by someone who speaks English fluently.

I am sure lb is thankful for your contribution. I am also sure you will figure out how to make the thing work.

My father's DVD recorder broke because two DVD-R's were stuck together and he inserted them into the machine like they were one. He since got a combination DVD-VCR too.

If you have the money, I'd suggest getting a VCR/DVD recorder. That way, you can convert your videotapes to DVDs AND you can create DVDs directly from TV ...

Well done, DZConverts. :)

That is what I got, but I wasn't able to figure out how to hook it up this afternoon. There's an extra step or connection or adapter that wasn't there with the old hookup.

I'll get it... Just give me a couple days and a few extra swear words...

No electronic set-ups are complete without swear words.

I love that you are doing it yourself.

What brand did you get? I found a Panasonic works well so that your "homemade" DVDs will play in other DVD players. My DVDs have played in all players EXCEPT for Go. They also have played correctly in computer DVD drives. Phew!
